Install Eclipse IDE on Windows

on November 7, 2009

Hello Guys,

Today I would like to share a new article which is very Important for any developer especially when some one is working in Java Environment with an Opensource IDE Eclipse.

Firstly we will start with Installing Eclipse on Windows , In this Tutorial Mostly I show the setup instructions using Screenshot hope you enjoy this :-) .

Installing Eclipse IDE:

1) Click Here to go for Eclipse site to download Eclipse IDE for Java and J2EE environment.

1

2) Select option one "Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers" the reason i choose because it has got all java packages for java and j2ee developers , so you need not to go and search over internet for dependency packages.

2

3) Click on "Save" and save it to C:\ drive.

4) The reason I am saving it to root folder for C:\ drive is, to make it easier to refer the folder when ever its necessary, If you are good at your machine folder structures you can save it any where.

5) Right click the downloaded file and click on "Extract Here" (Note: When you right click one the folder and If you don't see the above picture, dont worry, just double click it and open with winzip.

6) Once you extract you will see a folder  "C:\eclipse" ,this is the total folder where you see all plugins, configurations etc.
As of now we are only concerned about  "Eclipse Installation"

7) Double click on the "Eclipse" Icon from C:\eclipse folder and you see the above screen , make sure "use this as the default and do not ask again" check box on and click "OK"

8) Click on the "Workspace" which is top right corner of the workspace, see the above screen , red circle is pointed. Next time when you restart your eclipse the above screen wont appear, it will directly takes to your working "workspace"

By this tutorial you have successfully installed Eclipse IDE. Just play around with it for a while, In continuation to this tutorial next time we will focus on "Configuring Subversion with eclipse".

If you have any issues or queries, please feel free to post a comment.
